Zhoghovurd: Drivers of minibus route owned by Karamel Harut go on strike
Drivers of minibuses serving route 261 (Yerevan-Sevan) went on strike Wednesday because of low pay and poor working conditions, Zhoghovurd reports.
The paper has revealed that the route is owned by PAP MP Harutyun Gharagyozyan, nicknamed Karamel Harut. The paper contacted him to find out the cause of the strike, but Harut said he is not in Armenia and therefore is not aware of current events.
Zhoghovurd asked Arayik Beganyan, director of “Tigran” Ltd, company serving the route, to make comments. Beganyan denied strike rumors and said that drivers stopped working for an hour, and the delay was connected with the point of destination.
However, one of the minibus drivers told the paper that they have agreed to work temporarily until their demands are fulfilled.
