RA MFA: Armenian Embassy in Syria not to be closed
Today the Armenian cabinet held a closed-door discussion on the future of the Armenian Embassy in Syria.
Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Manasyan told reporters after the cabinet meeting that the issue had been discussed behind closed doors and therefore it would not be correct to make something public.
In response to questions from reporters, Manasyan ruled out the possibility that the Armenian Embassy in Syria might be closed.
Thousands of Syrians flee the country, in particular, Aleppo, as violence intensifies in Damascus and across the country.
Various sources say that Armenia’s Embassy in Aleppo works as normal.
Head of Migration Agency at the Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration Gagik Yeganyan has reported lately that 6 Syrian-Armenian families (a total of 14 people) had applied for a refugee status in Armenia as of July 19.
