Coentrao wants to return to Benfica
Fabio Coentrao wants to go back to Benfica and doesn't care if he has to take a financial hit to do so, according to Jornal de Noticias. "The left-back has been heavily unsettled by the constant criticism from Real Madrid fans, who say they don't understand why he cost €30 million, and he doesn't think he can carry on at the club,” the Portuguese newspaper reported.
Coentrao is therefore eyeing up a loan switch back to Benfica, possibly as part of a deal taking the Belgian midfielder Axel Witsel in the other direction.
Jornal de Noticias claims that Real Madrid would prefer to sell the Portuguese defender outright and recoup some of the money it paid for him a year ago. However, the club has yet to receive any attractive offers, Marca reported.
