Hraparak: Vardan Ghukasyan to run for mayor?
ARF member Hovsep Simonyan announced his candidacy for Gyumri mayor Wednesday, Hraparak reports. Simonyan, a department head at Shirak regional administration, is believed to be the placeman of former Shirak governor, ARF member Romik Manukyan.
“Rumors were circulating yesterday that Gyumri mayor Vardan Ghukasyan appealed for a certificate of permanent residence in Gyumri in the last 6 months, a document which is required to run for mayor. However, as the rumors were spread, the mayor and his people became unavailable. It can be supposed that Ghukasyan has not yet made a final decision on this issue,” the paper writes.
