Galliani blames Allegri for Real Madrid defeat
The Gazzetta dello Sport reports a furious outburst from Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani placing the blame for defeat to Real Madrid at Max Allegri’s door.
The Rossoneri were humbled 5-1 by Jose Mourinho’s team this week in a heavily one-sided affair. Allegri suggested post-match that concentration was the difference, but Galliani reportedly thinks otherwise.
“When you play against Real Madrid you should not think it is just a friendly,” he was reported as saying by the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“We’re in New York, in front of 60,000 people, a full stadium, all eyes on him, millions of eyes connected via the TV. Milan is not playing at a Serie D side.”
Galliani was apparently infuriated by Allegri’s decision to make nine substitutions in the second half at the Yankee Stadium, even though Mourinho made 11 changes himself.
“Mourinho has made as many changes? But have you seen Real? Kaka, Higuain, Arbeloa. As many changes were not made.
“It was a serious mistake and I will not tolerate these figures. I’m pissed off.”
