Armenian officer, who escaped killing by Ramil Safarov, to sue Azerbaijan and Hungary
Armenian officer Hayk Makuchyan, who escaped killing by Azeri officer Ramil Safarov in Budapest in 2004, is going to apply to relevant European institutions to defend his rights. He is consulting his lawyers before filing a lawsuit.
“I am sure the state will support me,” Makuchyan told reporters in Yerevan.
According to him, thorough work must be done before applying to the court.
“I will surely sue. Maybe it will be necessary to apply to the Hague Court, because the killing was committed on the ethnic ground: Gurgen was killed because he was an Armenian,” Makuchyan noted.
Both Azerbaijan and Hungary should be held liable for a cynical attitude towards humanity, he stressed, adding that Hungary became an accomplice to the crime.
