Armenia, Iran to put joint HPP into operation soon
The launch ceremony of a joint Armenian-Iranian hydroelectric power plant (HPP) over the Arax River is coming soon, with Armenian and Iranian high-ranking officials to be attending, announced Armenia’s ambassador to Iran, Grigor Arakelyan, according to ISNA.
Commenting on Armenian-Iranian economic relations, Mr Arakelyan noted that the regular session of Armenian-Iranian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation is due in Yerevan in October. Iranian Minister of Energy, Majid Namjoo, will arrive in Yerevan for the session, he added.
To recap, during a recent meeting on the sidelines of the summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran, the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Iran, Edward Nalbandian and Ali Akbar Salehi, stressed that Armenia and Iran must be consistent in implementing economic agreements between the two countries.
