Zhoghovurd: Polling station commission members flee
An interesting incident happened in the village of Vorotan of Armenia’s Sisian region during the local self-government elections on Sunday, Zhoghovurd daily writes. Members of polling station commission fled in the proper sense of the word after the election was over.
The point is that Syunik governor, Suren Khachatryan, demanded that members of the commission should change the results of voting in favor of incumbent mayor, member of Republican Party of Armenia, Gavrush Davtyan who did not receive sufficient votes. However, members of the polling station commission refused to forge the results, made a protocol and fled.
To verify the rumor, the paper contacted Suren Khachatryan, but he refused to answer any questions.
Seryozha Amirkhanyan, member of Prosperous Armenia Party, was elected Vorotan mayor, the paper says.
