Hungary must demand Safarov’s return, declare Aliyev persona non grata
Protests in many countries against the Azerbaijani-Hungarian deal cannot really affect political processes, but are viewed as a means of putting extra pressure on Hungary and Azerbaijan, political scientist Narek Galstyan told reporters in Yerevan.
Protests in Hungary itself either did not prompt Hungarian authorities to apologize to Armenia, said the expert.
“Hungarian authorities claim they were deceived by Azerbaijan. If so, they must demand Safarov’s return and declare Aliyev persona non grata, to save their image,” announced Galstyan.
Regarding statements by international organizations, including the resolution of the European Parliament, the expert said that these are only critical statements, with no indication of what should be done. International organizations must demand Safarov’s return to Hungary, he concluded.
