Bako Sahakyan: 20th century could be called golden era of astronomy
On September 16, Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan released an address for the participants of the "Mankind and Space" conference in Artsakh capital, Stepanakert.
“Respected participants of the conference,
I am glad to welcome all of you and express my satisfaction with holding such an important event in Artsakh.
The fact that the Armenian Highland is one of the oldest places on Earth studying the Universe is clearly indicated by the ancient observatories that existed here. Space sphere exploration developed significantly during the 20th century, which can be qualified as the gold era of astronomy in Armenia. We are also very much proud of the fact that Artsakh-born scientists have had significant contribution in exploring Space.
For this very reason our state attaches a great importance to scientific events dedicated to studying Space especially with the participation of well-known professionals. I am confident that scientific-practical conference “Mankind and Space” will succeed in realizing the set issues and will boost interest in exploring the Universe in our republic.
I wish you efficient work and all the best."
