Alexander Iskandaryan: CSTO exercise was important and unique
Caucasus Institute director, political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan believes CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Force Cooperation-2012 joint military exercise that was held in Armenia was important and unique in several aspects.
Firstly, the exercise was held for the first time after the 2008 war between Russia and Georgia, secondly, the exercise was held simultaneously with the Caucasus-2012 Strategic Exercise, he stressed.
According to the expert, CSTO offers wide possibilities to Armenia in buying military equipment at cost price as well as officer training.
Mr Iskandaryan noted that CSTO should not be blamed for not responding to incidents recorded at the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line. “The organization is developing dynamically and therefore cannot yet respond to some challenges.”
