Shakira, footballer Gerard Pique expecting first child
Spanish and Barcelona defender Gerard Pique will become dad as his singer girlfriend Shakira announced to be pregnant on Wednesday.
The 35-year-old Colombian Shakira, who's bowing out of a music festival in Las Vegas this weekend, wrote on her website that they are expecting their first baby but declined to specify a due date.
"At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days," she said.
The 25-year-old Pique first met Shakira in 2010 and confirmed their relationship in March 2011.
He will be out for two to three weeks after hurting his left foot in his side's 3-2 win at home to Spartak Moscow in the Champions League, the club announced earlier.
