Safarov case debate: Norway’s representative says PACE ready to solve conflicts
During the Safarov case debate in PACE on Thursday, representative of Norway Karen Woldseth announced that PACE is ready to solve the emerging conflicts, a Panorama.am correspondent reported from Strasbourg.
“We work actively to solve conflicts. There is no one in the Assembly who would not wish the ongoing conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan to be solved. Therefore, I should mention, the Assembly is the platform where representatives of the two countries meet. And we do not fear to discuss hard matters. Impunity should make us worried, and we should struggle against it. It is very important for all countries to think how their actions will be interpreted by other states,” the Norwegian lawmaker said.
On behalf of European diplomats, Karen Woldseth stressed the necessity of dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which, she believes, could contribute to the reconciliation between the sides.
