Prosecutor demands one year in prison for defendant in Yerevan balloon blast case
Judge of Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan’s Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts, Gagik Poghosyan, sustained today a request by defendant Serob Bozoyan for an expedited trial in the case of balloon blast in Yerevan in May 2012.
Prosecutor Hakob Martirosyan issued today the indictment, demanding one year in prison for Serob Bozoyan. Defendant’s lawyer, Karen Manucharyan, told Panorama.am that he will speak during the next hearing on October 17, and then the verdict will be pronounced.
Gas-filled balloons exploded during a campaign rally in Yerevan’s central Republic Square on May 4, 2012, sending 154 people to hospital with burn injuries.
Serob Bozoyan, who charged the balloons, has been charged with releasing/realizing products that do not meet security standards, causing health damage to two or more people due to negligence.
