Haykakan Zhamanak: Putin to arrive in Armenia with Karen Karapetyan
Haykakan Zhamanak daily’s sources say that Russian President Vladimir Putin will arrive in Armenia in late October or early November. Former Yerevan Mayor Karen Karapetyan, who is currently first vice chairman of Gazprombank, will arrive in Armenia with the Russian presidential delegation.
Karapetyan’s appointment as Armenian Prime Minister will be discussed with Vladimir Putin during the visit.
Pro-government sources say the Armenian PM will be replaced after the presidential elections in February 2013.
But if Serzh Sargsyan fails to gain PAP’s support for his candidature for president he will have to replace the PM before the presidential elections. If so, Karen Karapetyan will need to get guarantees that he will stay on his post after the presidential elections, the paper writes.
