Vartan Oskanian’s lawyer wants Civilitas case quashed
Vartan Oskanian’s lawyer, Tigran Atanesyan, is going to file a petition for quashing the money laundering case against the Civilitas Foundation, the lawyer told reporters in Yerevan.
“The case is politically motivated, and in my petition I will substantiate legally that it is fabricated,” said the lawyer.
On May 25, Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) opened a criminal case against the Civilitas Foundation for money laundering. Vartan Oskanian, the founder of the Civilitas Foundation and Armenia’s former Foreign Minister, was summoned to the National Security Service on October 8 and formally charged with misappropriation of some $1.4 million donated by a U.S. philanthropist to Yerevan-based Civilitas Foundation in late 2010.
