Draft law on domestic violence to be submitted for public debate
RA Draft Law on Domestic Violence is ready, Lala Ghazaryan, head of Family, Women and Children Issues Department within the Armenian Ministry of Labor and Social Issues, told Panorama.am.
A working group had been set up to elaborate the draft law, which is aimed at preventing domestic violence and protecting victims of domestic violence, the official noted. The draft law will be submitted for public debate soon, she added.
The draft law regulates relations concerning domestic violence, gives a definition to the notion of domestic violence, determines the departments to deal with prevention of domestic violence with a mention of their financial sources, special means that will help protect from domestic violence, ways of their use, protection of rights of family members and responsibility for domestic violence.
The draft law envisages criminal punishment for some acts of domestic violence.
