Higuaín removed by muscle problem
Gonzalo Higuaín, the Argentine international and Real Madrid forward, suffered a muscle problem in the first few minutes of the Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund. Although he did his best to carry on playing, José Callejón came on in his place after the break, Marca.com reported.
Both José Mourinho's centre forwards have fallen foul of injury. Karim Benzema was the first to fall by the wayside and the Frenchman didn't train prior to the match against Borussia Dortmund or make it into the squad, also because of a muscle problem.
The game had only just started when Higuaín also fell victim to injury. He soldiered on despite clasping his hands round the back of his right thigh and stretching his leg as the match progressed. He lacked his usual speed and was visibly limping during various attacking moves.
Higuaín ended up being replaced by José Callejón in the half-time break. Mourinho also took the Croatian Luka Modric off in order to bring on the Ghanaian Michael Essien in an attempt to come back from behind following the half-time score of 1-2 in favour of the German side.
