Balloon blast convict’s lawyer to appeal sentence
Karen Manucharyan, a lawyer for Serob Bozoyan sentenced to one year in prison in balloon blast case, is going to appeal the sentence.
Speaking to Panorama.am, the lawyer said that he will file an application to the Court of Appeal in the near future. However, from strategic considerations he refused to specify the details of the appeal.
The deadline for filing an appeal is November 17.
On October 17, the court sentenced Serob Bozoyan, the only defendant in Yerevan balloon blast case, to one year in prison.
Gas-filled balloons exploded during a campaign rally in Yerevan’s central Republic Square on May 4, 2012, sending 154 people to hospital with burn injuries.
Serob Bozoyan, who charged the balloons, had been charged with releasing/realizing products that do not meet security standards, causing health damage to two or more people due to negligence.
