EgyptAir allows Muslim airhostesses to wear hijab
Egypt’s national carrier EgyptAir has now allowed its women cabin crew members to wear Islamic headscarves (hijab), daily.bhaskar.com reports.
Media reports quote an airline official as saying, "EgyptAir is designing a new hijab to be worn with the carrier's uniform and that will be completed before expanding the new practice to services beyond the Arab world."
According to AirNews Times, Minister of Aviation Samir Imbabi had made the decision at crisis talks in September with the company’s stewards who went on a brief strike on Friday for better working conditions and higher wages, according to officials in the airline.
Reports say the airline began by letting airhostesses wear headscarves on trips to Jeddah and Medina, and have now expanded it to other Arab states.
