Armenian parliament building to be adapted for disabled access
Inclined planes are being installed in the Armenian National Assembly building that give access to wheelchairs.
Armenian National Assembly speaker’s spokesperson told Panorama.am in October that Hovik Abrahamyan had ordered the NA staff to
build inclined planes in the parliament.
The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities came into effect in Armenia on October 22, 2010. The Convention, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 13, 2006, promotes, protects and ensures the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by all persons with disabilities, and promotes respect for their inherent dignity.
