Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan received a delegation of President of the Uruguayan Chamber of Representatives Jorge Orrico on Tuesday.

A wide scope of issues related to the development of bilateral relations was discussed during the meeting.

Bako Sahakyan noted that Artsakh and Uruguay are friendly countries having much in common both in their history and state building philosophy, which creates favorable conditions for developing cooperation between the two countries.

President Sahakyan rated high the contribution of Uruguay to the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, as well as its balanced policy in international recognition of the Artsakh Republic and the settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict.

The importance of deepening relations between the two countries and the need for concrete steps in this direction was mutually noted.

NKR National Assembly Speaker Ashot Ghulyan, Armenia's ambassador to Uruguay Vahagn Melikyan, National Assembly deputies from the Republic of Armenia, Uruguay Armenian Cause Office representatives and other officials attended the meeting, Central Information Department at Artsakh President's Office reported.
