Computer centers opened in Akhurian and Mayisyan villages of Shirak region with support of Orange
Today two modern computer centers furnished with Orange broadband Internet were opened in two villages of Shirak region – Akhurian and Mayisyan - with joint efforts of Orange and “Shen” charity organization.
Akhurian has 10,050 inhabitants, while Mayisyan is the home of 2,100 people. Each of the newly opened computer centers are equipped with 7 computers, a printer, Orange Flybox 3G router and comfortable furniture which will provide possibility to the residents of both villages not only to be connected with the world, but also to participate in computer courses. For the implementation of this project Orange has allotted total AMD 4,700,000.
Francis Gelibter, Orange Armenia CEO said: “Modern technologies develop with an uncredible speed, and their usage in the everyday life allows not only to make easy people’s life, make distances shorter, but also stimulate social, cultural, scientific development, make people be always informed. As a responsible company, we feel it’s our duty to bring access to computer and to internet to all those who cannot afford it at home.”
This initiative of Orange was implemented in the frames of the strategic program of support to sustainable development of remote and vulnerable communities, which aims to boost and support social and economic development of these communities and make them fully benefit from the high technologies, company’s press service reported.
