National Statistical Service: Lori region has highest number of divorces
The highest number of divorces in the first nine months of 2012 occurred in Armenia’s Lori region. According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, 337 divorces per 1,000 marriages were registered in this region in January-September.
The number of divorces increased by 43 in Shirak region over the previous year.
Armenian capital Yerevan is second in the number of divorces, with 217 divorces per 1,000 marriages recorded in the nine months of this year, an increase by 16 over the previous year and the same over 2010.
Armavir and Gegharkunik regions have the lowest number of divorces (104 divorces in each).
The number of registered marriages decreased by 6.6 percent in January-September 2012 over the previous year and amounted to 13, 828. The number of divorces registered in January-September 2012 increased by 3.1 percent over the previous year and amounted to 2,441.
