Levon Shirinyan: Gagik Tsarukyan will run for president
Prosperous Armenia Party chairman Gagik Tsarukyan will run for president, according to political scientist Levon Shirinyan.
Prosperous Armenia has proclaimed itself as an “alternative force”, which is called by political scientists “opposition,” Shirinyan told reporters in Yerevan.
“The “alternative force” is opposition in the classical sense. But it is not street opposition. I would like Prosperous Armenia to have its candidate in elections, advancing political processes and boosting the state’s development,” said the expert.
Referring to Prosperous Armenia’s proposal on transition to a parliamentary system of government, Levon Shirinyan said, “Armenia very much needs to have a multi-party parliamentary system of government as well as modernization.”
The political scientist does not rule out the possibility that the opposition may announce a common presidential candidate.
