Gagik Minasyan: Armenian delegation in PABSEC had no security guarantee
The 40th meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) started in Baku. The Armenian delegation is not attending the meeting.
Panorama.am asked MP, head of the Armenian delegation in PABSEC Gagik Minasyan to comment on the situation.
“The Armenian delegation wanted to attend the Assembly meeting. The three PABSEC Committees were to convene as part of the meeting; other issues were also to be discussed. In connection with our delegation’s participation, on November 20, I sent a letter to PABSEC Chairman, Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Oktay Asadov. I had mentioned in the letter that we were asking that the host country guarantee our security. Unfortunately, by the end of the working week we had received no reply from Baku. On November 24, we asked the PABSEC Secretary General, who was in Baku for organizational purposes, to find out when there will be a reply from Baku. Some time later, the PABSEC Secretary General said that at best, the reply will come on Monday, November 26, when the Assembly’s meeting will have already started its proceedings. I think there is no need for comment,” said Gagik Minasyan.
