Parliamentary discussion on setting up ad hoc commission to investigate March 1 events
Armenian National Assembly’s Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs is at the moment discussing a draft decision by opposition bloc Armenian National Congress on setting up an ad hoc parliamentary commission to investigate the March 1, 2008 events.
Relatives of the March 1 victims are also attending the session.
Presenting the draft decision, ANC parliamentary faction member Gagik Jhangiryan stated that four and a half years have passed, but none of the crimes committed on March 1-2, 2008 has been disclosed so far. The circumstances under which hundreds of people were injured also have to be disclosed.
“There is no defendant and no one has been convicted of the crime yet,” Jhangiryan added.
