Balloon blast convict Serob Bozoyan to undergo surgery for stomach ulcer
Serob Bozoyan who was sentenced to one year in prison in balloon blast case is at Fanarjyan National Oncology Center, pending a surgery for stomach ulcer.
He said to Panorama.am: “I have a stomach ulcer. The doctors have started the treatment. They have prescribed some medicines and are going to perform a surgery. I don’t know when exactly I will be operated on. I am undergoing treatment now. I am well looked after here. I am grateful to all those who are interested in my condition.”
Earlier, Karen Manucharyan, a lawyer for Serob Bozoyan, told Panorama.am that he had appealed the sentence.
On October 17, the court sentenced Serob Bozoyan, the only defendant in Yerevan balloon blast case, to one year in prison.
Gas-filled balloons exploded during a campaign rally in Yerevan’s central Republic Square on May 4, 2012, sending 154 people to hospital with burn injuries.
Serob Bozoyan, who charged the balloons, had been charged with releasing/realizing products that do not meet security standards, causing health damage to two or more people due to negligence.
