EPP Eastern Partnership Summit adopts declaration
Yerevan hosted the 2nd European People's Party (EPP) Eastern Partnership Leaders' Summit on Friday, November 30.
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat, EPP President Wilfried Martens, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso adopted a declaration at the summit.
This declaration represents the vision of the Eastern Partnership’s future, outlining the agenda of the Eastern Partnership Summit that will be held in 2013 in Vilnius, President Serzh Sargsyan told a news conference.
The Armenian President stressed the role of the EPP in inter-parliamentary relations.
President Sargsyan noted that the European People's Party is a Christian Democratic Party and stressed that it cannot tolerate xenophobia, military rhetoric and threat to use force. Turkey seeking European integration should also accept the European values, Serzh Sargsyan added.
“We are convinced that the border should be opened without preconditions,” stressed President Sargsyan.
Serzh Sargsyan expressed his gratitude to European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso for his important role in the European integration of Eastern Partnership states.
