No Europa League can help us retain Premier League – Mancini
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini believes his side’s failure to qualify for the Europa League could help them to retain their Premier League title, Inside Football reported.
The Citizens went down 1-0 in Germany to Borussia Dortmund in their final Champions League group match. With Ajax losing at Real Madrid, victory would have taken Manchester City into the Europa League.
The Italian can see benefits from exiting Europe altogether, in terms of helping their Premier League cause, even if he also feels a period of disappointment is needed.
"Clearly this can help us win the Premier League because we don’t play in the Europa League but we tried to play in it and that was our tactic tonight", he told his club’s official site.
