Opposition ANC has lost resources it had in 2008-2009 - expert
Opposition bloc Armenian National Congress (ANC) has lost the resources and possibilities it had in 2008-2009. In the current situation, particularly after the parliamentary elections, after getting seats in parliament, this political force speaks about street policy, which rather resembles a nostalgic statement. This political force has lost its resources and street policy is no longer topical, political scientist, deputy director of Caucasus Institute Sergey Minasyan told Panorama.am.
The expert highlighted the fact that ANC’s recent rally lasted for a short time, ANC activists such as Nikol Pashinyan and Gagik Jhangiryan did not speak and Levon Ter-Petrosyan did not attend the rally. The reason behind it is the lack of clearness within this opposition bloc, he explained.
“There is no clearness within the ANC because it unites politicians having different approaches,” Minasyan added.
When asked if it is possible that ANC is preparing for post-election processes, Minasyan said, “In order to be prepared for post-election processes, ANC should first of all be prepared for active pre-election fight, should have its candidate and should back him. But we do not see anything of the kind at the moment and I do not think we will see it in the near future.”
