Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan awards Diaspora Armenian singer Adiss Harmandian
On December 13, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received Chairman of Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society Lebanon Regional Committee Hagop Ladoian, President of Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Foundation Lilit Galstyan, Lebanese-Armenian pop singer Adiss Harmandian, as well as Varanda Hagopian and Alice Iprajian, who were the recipients of the 2012 Hamazkayin Song Contest held in Lebanon, the website of Ministry of Diaspora reported.
RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan praised the role of Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Foundation in supporting Armenian artists living and creating in Lebanon and in popularizing them in the Homeland.
Based in Lebanon, singer Adiss Harmandian has been able to present Armenian song in the capital of culture Lebanon, as well as the Armenian communities of different countries and the Homeland for many years.
“Armenian song is the best weapon that can help Armenians preserve their national identity abroad,” Minister Hranush Hakobyan stressed, adding: “You have been able to use that weapon. Your songs and career have been appreciated by Catholicos Aram I, and it is truly difficult to receive the Catholicos’s appraisal.”
RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan presented Adiss Harmandian with the “Komitas” Medal of the RA Ministry of Diaspora for disseminating Armenian arts in the Diaspora, his career and high level of performance, as well as his contributions to the development of the Armenia-Diaspora partnership.
Distinguished artist Alice Harmandian mentioned that receiving such a high award truly came as a surprise for him. “I have been loved and appreciated in many countries, but being recognized and appreciated in the Homeland has always been important for me throughout my career.”
Chairman of Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society Lebanon Regional Committee Hagop Ladoian expressed gratitude to the RA Minister of Diaspora for her ongoing support to the Syrian-Armenians and expressed certainty that Armenians in the Diaspora no longer feel like they are alone.
President of Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Foundation Lilit Galstyan expressed her joy for the fact that the RA Ministry of Diaspora is now the one strengthening the relations between the Homeland and the Diaspora. “The meeting at this precious hearth goes to show how important Mrs. Hakobyan’s attention is for Armenian communities in the Diaspora.”
Hranush Hakobyan invited the singer to take part in the programs and festivals organized by the RA Ministry of Diaspora.
The solemn award ceremony ended with performances of Armenian folk songs by Adiss Harmandian, Varanda Hagopian and Alice Iprajian.
