Edward Sharmazanov: Turkey has nothing to do with Karabakh settlement
Vice Speaker of Armenian parliament Edward Sharmazanov responded to the statement made by Turkish Parliament Speaker.
Cemil Cicek spoke about Armenian-Turkish and Armenian-Azerbaijani relations at an Ankara-hosted conference dedicated to the memory of late Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev.
Cicek told the conference that Azerbaijan was important for Turkey and the protection of the rights of the Azerbaijanis was a priority in Ankara’s foreign policy.
“The restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity is one of the conditions for Armenian-Turkish normalization. Karabakh conflict is the most serious issue threatening stability and peace in the Caucasus. If the question is about long-term stability in the Caucasus, we expect Armenia to take steps in this direction. To say more exactly, we expect the Armenian policy to get free from the Diaspora’s tutorship,” the Turkish politician stated.
Commenting on this statement, Mr Sharmazanov said, “It is inadmissible to link the Armenian-Turkish normalization to Karabakh issue. Turkey has nothing to do with Karabakh settlement.”
More, the Vice Speaker of Armenian parliament stated that Azerbaijan, which sponsors Turkey and propagates anti-humanitarian values, is the only threat to regional security.
“Armenia and Diaspora are one family and one whole. Instead of making absurd statements, it would be fair to realize that Armenia and Diaspora will do everything possible to achieve international recognition of Armenian Genocide.”
