Industrial output continues shrinking in Azerbaijan
In January-November 2012, the industrial production in Azerbaijan shrank by 3.3% compared to the same period of 2011,
Azerbaijani news agency "1nyuz.az" with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan reports.
It is noted that 75.7% of industrial output was produced in the mining sector, 18.8% - in the processing industry, 18,8% in recycling industry 4.9% - in the electricity and gas sectors. Another 0.6% was for water supplies, cleaning of wastewater and utilization of household waste. Total industrial production in Azerbaijan in January-November 2011 amounted to 31 billion 031.4 million manats ($39,55 billion.)
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan produced 39.4 million tons of oil and 15.7 billion cubic meters of gas. Electricity production amounted to 18.5 billion kW/h. The production volume in the oil sector fell by 5.3%, in the non-oil increased by 7.4%.
The agency notes that in 2011 the volume of industrial production in Azerbaijan was 34 billion 545.4 million manats ($ 43.95 billion), which is 5% lower than it was in 2010.
The output of industrial production in Azerbaijan decreased due to the sharp decline in oil production in the country. Thus in 2011, oil production in Azerbaijan decreased by 10.8%, and the gas production decreased by 2%. In January-November 2012 the decrease in oil production in Azerbaijan continued, reaching 7.35%.
It is noteworthy that, according to the counters, during 10 months of 2012, oil export from Azerbaijan was reduced by 9.5%, and gas by 3.7%, and by 20.7% according to cargo customs declarations. At the same time, the volume of gas export from the main natural gas field in Azerbaijan "Shah Deniz" decreased by 10.8%.
