Former Iranian President Rafsanjani’s son released on bail
The son of former Iranian President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani has been released on bail, Iran’s news agency Fars reported.
Mahdi Hashemi was released for 10 million tomans, said the report.
Authorities arrested the younger Hashemi in late September, a day after he returned to Iran from Britain.
He is held on charges of fomenting unrest in the aftermath of Iran's disputed 2009 presidential election that brought President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad a second term in office. Hashemi also faced corruption charge.
His arrest came days after his sister, Faezeh, was taken into custody to serve a six-month sentence on charges of making propaganda against Iran's ruling system.
