Communist Party to clarify its position on elections by December 30
The Communist Party of Armenia will discuss the issue of participation in the upcoming presidential elections at the party’s plenary session that will be held before December 30, party’s leader, Ruben Tovmasyan, told reporters in Yerevan. After the plenary session, the party will decide exactly whether or not to nominate a presidential candidate, he added.
At the same time, Tovmasyan ruled out that the Communist Party could support any other candidate.
Referring to Prosperous Armenia Party’s decision not to nominate a presidential candidate, Tovmasyan said that in all probability, only two people – Gagik Tsarukyan and Serzh Sargsyan - knew what was the real reason behind it and it would never be made public.
