Armenia to head 7th session of Intergovernmental Committee of UNESCO convention
In 2013 Armenia will head 7th session of Intergovernmental Committee of UNESCO convention, the Culture Ministry reports.
From December 6-10 in Paris UNESCO held the 6th session of promotion of the objectives and implementation of the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. During the session they examined the quadrennial periodic reports of Parties to the Convention, approved of projects for funding under the International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD), monitored the use of the resources of the IFCD and implementation of a fundraising strategy as well as the next chairmanship of the session was discussed. Elections were held as a result of which Armenia was elected a chairing country and will head the 7th session of Intergovernmental Committee of UNESCO.
On January 27, 2007 Armenian National Assmbly has ratified the UNESCO’s Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions which has been signed in Paris October 3, 2005.
