Gallup poll: Most of Gagik Tsarukyan’s electorate to shift to Serzh Sargsyan
Sociologists have concluded that as a result of Prosperous Armenia Party’s decision not to nominate any presidential candidate and not to support any candidate, most of those who wanted to vote for Gagik Tsarukyan will now vote for incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan.
21 percent of the 1,020 respondents, residents of Armenia, expressed willingness to vote for Gagik Tsarukyan, according to pre-election poll conducted by Baltic Surveys/The Gallup Organization and Armenian Sociological Association on the initiative of ArmNews.
The same respondents were asked whom they would vote for by second election, i.e. if their preferred candidate, Gagik Tsarukyan, did not run for president. 36 percent gave their preference to Serzh Sargsyan, 13 percent to Robert Kocharyan, 9 percent to Raffi Hovannisian, 4 percent to Levon Ter-Petrosyan. 18 percent said they would vote for other candidates while 20 percent were uncertain.
According to the same survey, 49 percent said they would vote for Serzh Sargsyan by first election, 21 percent said they would vote for Gagik Tsarukyan and 6 percent would vote for Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
