Azerbaijani media misrepresent remarks of Iranian President’s advisor
“Iran is against destruction of any sacred place in any corner of the world - sacred places should be treated with respect,” Mohammad Bagher Khoramshad, Iranian President’s advisor, head of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, stated during a Baku-hosted conference on “Religion and Justice,” according to Iran’s state-run news agency IRNA.
Azerbaijani news agency Trend, distorting the remarks of the Iranian official, said that “Iran condemns the destruction of Nagorno-Karabakh mosques by Armenians.” However, the Iranian President’s advisor had made no mention of Nagorno-Karabakh in his speech.
Earlier, Masoud Alavian Sadr, deputy head of Iranian Cultural Heritage Organization, told Iran’s news agency Fars that during a meeting with Armenian Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan as part of her visit to Tehran, they had reached an agreement to take necessary action to enter the Iranian Blue Mosque in Yerevan on the UNESCO's World Heritage List after it is completely renovated.
