Alexander Iskandaryan: I see no real rival for Republican Party
For the first time in the history of independent Armenia, all main political forces are represented in the National Assembly, political scientist, Caucasus Institute director Alexander Iskandaryan told a news conference in Yerevan.
According to him, “after the parliamentary elections, politics moved from the streets to parliament.”
Commenting on the upcoming presidential elections, Iskandaryan noted that there would be noticeable street activity but the main political events take place in the media and in parliament.
Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan’s refusal to run for president changed the political palette, the expert said.
“I think the presidential elections are predetermined. I see no real rival for Republican Party and I do not think that a real rival candidate will be formed in one month’s time,” said Iskandaryan.
