Haykakan Zhamanak: Syrian-Armenians can spend aid money only in Yerevan City supermarkets
The ambassador of Kuwait to Armenia handed over aid certificate worth $100,000 to the Center for Coordination of Syrian-Armenians' Issues NGO at the Armenian Diaspora Ministry on Wednesday.
1,000 Syrian-Armenian families currently living in Armenia will receive cards worth AMD 20,000 with which they can do shopping only in Yerevan City supermarkets owned by MP Samvel Alexanyan, Haykakan Zhamanak reports.
This chain of supermarkets was chosen by a delegation that arrived in Yerevan from Kuwait.
“Why didn’t they just give money to Syrian-Armenians for them to spend it as they like? If someone has a logical explanation to this, we will listen to it with pleasure,” writes the paper.
