Karateka, physicist, pensioner: submission of nomination papers for presidential elections finished
The submission process of nomination papers for presidential elections, which are to be held on February 18, is to be finished today. Then the registration process is to follow which will last till 14 January.
At this moment there are 15 citizens of Armenian Republic who have submitted papers as presidential candidates.
They are; Taron Abrahamyan, the President of Armenian Combat Karate Kobudo National Federation and “Kamando” association counter terror and protection, who has nominated himself.
Robert Aharonyan non-party Chairman of "Armenian-Russian union" NGO board who is also unemployed has nominated himself. Robert Aharonyan once used to be the head of the Progressive Socialist Party of Armenia which then joined Tigran Urikhanyan and the Progressive Party of Armenia was formed. When Urikhanyan declared about his plans of joining PAP, Aharonyan left the party. Aharonyan is also known by his efforts to unify communist party and by his statements on reviving the Soviet Union.
Ruben Avagyan, who is also self-nominated, is an attorney in the European Court of Human Rights, he is also a PAP member.
Hrant Bagratyan, who is the former Prime Minister of Armenia is the head of “Liberty” party and is deputy in RA NA. He was nominated by his party.
Physicist Mher Hayrapetyan who is non-party and is unemployed had nominated himself.
National Self-Determination Union party leader Paruyr Hayrikyan is self-nominated as well.
Aram Harutyunyan, head of the National Conciliation Party is self-nominated as well.
Head of Heritage Party Raffi Hovhannisyan is self-nominated.
Andrias Ghukasyan, who is the head of “Radio Hay” Ltd. Council and is non-party, is self-nominated as well.
The former NKR foreign minister Aram Melikyan, who works at “Refugees and International Law” NGO has nominated himself.
Narine Mkrtchyan who is the only female candidate works at Pedagogical University after Kh. Abovyan as a professor. She has nominated herself as a candidate.
Pavlik Sargsyan is pensioner and is unemployed. He is also self-nominated.
Serzh Sargsyan who is nominated by the Armenian Republican Party is the current president of Armenian Republic.
Vardan Sedrakyan who is non-party and is specialist in epic. He is also self-nominated.
The last candidate is Robert Simonyan, the head of “Kashatagh” NGO, he is non-party and is self-nominated.
