Sociologist: Lightweight presidential candidates will win less than 1 percent of votes
The lightweight presidential candidates – the specialist in epic, the karateka and others – will win less than 1 percent of the votes in the February 18 presidential elections, according to sociologist Aharon Adibekyan.
“Raffi Hovannisian, a classical politician, hopes to pass to the second round. It means that Serzh Sargsyan will win less than 50 percent of the votes and the rest of the votes will go to either Raffi Hovannisian or Hrant Bagratyan who are comparatively strong candidates,” Adibekyan told a news conference in Yerevan.
“Surveys show that a second round is ruled out, though it is theoretically possible. Raffi Hovannisian and Hrant Bagratyan, however, should do much organizational work. Besides, the presidential candidates face the problem of recognizability and Serzh Sargsyan is an absolute leader among the candidates in this respect,” said Adibekyan.
