Unrealistic to expect tangible progress in Karabakh issue in 2013, says expert
It is unrealistic to expect tangible progress in Karabakh issue in 2013, political scientist Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan told a news conference in Yerevan.
Both Armenia and Azerbaijan will hold presidential elections in 2013, which will have some impact on possible developments in Karabakh settlement, he noted.
“In order to retain the power, Aliyev will use Karabakh issue and will try to cause tension in this issue for the purpose of consolidating the Azerbaijani society,” Melik-Shahnazaryan said.
According to the expert, Baku constantly causes tension and takes steps to fail and deadlock the talks, and therefore it is little probable that progress will be made in this issue in 2013.
