Turkey’s Court of Cassation demands repeal of verdict in Dink case
The trial in the assassination of editor-in-chief of Agos Weekly of Istanbul Hrant Dink takes a new course.
Turkey’s Court of Cassation demands the repeal of the verdict passed by the first instance court of Istanbul on January 17, 2012, which sentenced one of the defendants to life imprisonment and acquitted the rest 19 members of the terrorist organization of murder charges, Hurriyet reports.
The Court of Cassation has prepared a conclusion disputing the acquittal of the 19 defendants in the case. The conclusion took into account all details of the formation of the terrorist organization.
The conclusion stated that the terrorist organization formed to assassinate Dink not only planned to organize the killing of an ordinary citizen but also intended to carry out acts violating public order, causing chaos and an atmosphere of distrust and damaging Turkey’s international reputation.
