Trilateral meeting on Karabakh held in Strasbourg
A trilateral meeting between PACE President Jean-Claude Mignon, head of the Armenian delegation David Harutyunyan and head of the Azerbaijani delegation Samed Seyidov took place in the evening on January 22 at PACE, David Harutyunyan told Panorama.am.
“We do not release information about such meetings: as agreed, any information we release should be coordinated with the three sides,” said Mr Harutyunyan, adding that he cannot violate the agreement by providing information about the meeting.
Earlier, PACE President Jean-Claude Mignon dwelt on such trilateral meetings, saying that such meetings regularly take place in Strasbourg or Paris, and that the latest trilateral meeting took place in Turin. These meetings are not official and public, Mignon said.
“I do not want to restore the activities of the subcommittee on Karabakh just for the reason that the OSCE Minsk Group does a very important job in conflict settlement,” he added.
PACE subcommittee on Karabakh resumed its operations during the presidency of former PACE President Mevlut Cavusoglu. Spanish MP Jordi Xuclà i Costa was then appointed chairman of the subcommittee. The operation of the subcommittee was suspended following the death of its first chairman Lord Russell-Johnston.
