Arakel Mirzoyan: I am proud of our strong army
Armenian weightlifter Arakel Mirzoyan, who is currently participating in a training camp in the city of Abovyan, not only has served in the Armenian army, but also has been awarded Vazgen Sargsyan Medal.
In an interview with Panorama.am, Arakel congratulated everyone on Army Day and shared his memories of military service.
- I served in the Armenian army in 2007-2009, in a sports company, which is available for all those sportsmen who took 1-6th place in European and world championships. During those two years, I was named the first among the top ten sportsmen in the Armenian army and was awarded Vazgen Sargsyan Medal by the Armenian Defense Minister.
I want to thank the entire staff of Armenian Defense Ministry, particularly Seyran Ohanyan, because for a sportsman, it is very important to train along with doing his military service, and our sportsmen have such an opportunity.
- Can you remember something interesting about your military service?
- Military service in itself is interesting. As soon as you put on the military uniform, life seems to change and you start to look around yourself in an absolutely different manner. But I cannot remember any particular case.
- Do you ever meet your fellow servicemen and what plans do you have for today?
- Certainly, I often meet my fellow servicemen, with all of them being sportsmen. Regrettably, I do not have any special plans for today because I am currently participating in a training camp in the city of Abovyan.
- What are your wishes on the 21st anniversary of formation of Armenian Army?
- My congratulations to all of us on the 21st anniversary of formation of Armenian army. I wish us to be always strong and firm. I am proud of being Armenian. I am proud of our strong army.
