Andrias Ghukasyan’s struggle will not end with hunger strike
Armen Grigoryan, coordinator of the election headquarters of presidential candidate Andrias Ghukasyan, yesterday received a call from Health Ministry asking him to provide information about the health of the candidate who is on an indefinite hunger strike, Armen Grigoryan told a news conference in Yerevan.
He noted that the candidate had undergone physical exam and the results would be available in coming days.
Presidential candidate Andrias Ghukasyan announced an indefinite hunger strike 16 days ago demanding “to stop fake elections,” particularly to invalidate the registration of candidate of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Serzh Sargsyan.
The coordinator of Ghukasyan’s election headquarters says the hunger strike is not a goal in itself.
“This decision followed long discussions. Andrias’ aim is not to become president but to solve a political problem and the electoral institutions are seen as a means for achieving this goal,” said Grigoryan.
Ghukasyan’s struggle will not end with the hunger strike, Grigoryan noted.
“We will determine our tactics and continue our struggle after the hunger strike. We will keep our political problem on the agenda,” the coordinator of Ghukasyan’s election headquarters added.
