Iran’s Ahmadinejad to arrive in Cairo today
Islamic Republic of Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will arrive in Cairo, later today, Tuesday, to participate in the upcoming Summit Meeting of the organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iran’s state-run news agency IRNA reported.
According to the dispatched IRNA reporter, the Iranian president is scheduled to meet the Sheikh of Al-Azhar after arrival in Egypt and to meet and confer with a group of major Egyptian dailies’ editor in chiefs.
The 12th OIC Summit Meeting is scheduled for February 6th and 7th in historical Egyptian capital city, Cairo, to discuss the most important problems of the Islamic world, particularly seeking a practical way out of the lingering bloody Syrian crisis.
The president of the Islamic Republic of Iran is also expected to have other bilateral and multilateral meetings on the sidelines of this summit meeting.
The most important meeting of President Ahmadinejad during this visit would be with his Egyptian counterpart, which could be a major development in the course of the three-decade frozen bilateral ties of the two major Islamic world countries.
The Iranian political leader is also expected to meet the Head of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas and some popular and religious Egyptian personalities.
