Hayrikyan leaves hospital, appears at press conference
Presidential candidate, chairman of National Self-Determination Union Paruyr Hayrikyan today left Surb Grigor Lusavorich hospital and appeared at a news conference of his associates as well as his lawyer.
Hayrikyan said it was not the first time he was assaulted, but none of those attempts succeeded.
The candidate thanked his colleagues for their support, expressing the hope that they will succeed in their fight against criminals.
“I was shot at a distance of 25 cm, but the bullet did not hit me. I was saved by angels,” he said.
When asked by a Panorama.am reporter when he plans to resume campaigning, Hayrikyan said, “I have already got down to it.”
Presidential candidate, chairman of National Self-Determination Union Paruyr Hayrikyan was shot and wounded by unknown gunmen in Yerevan at 23:30 local time on January 31. He was taken to Surb Grigor Lusavorich Medical Center, where he underwent surgery on February 1. A criminal case was opened in connection with the incident, investigated by the National Security Service of Armenia.
